Youtube Video of the Month – Free for All Brawl

Boxing in Fiji hasn’t been too kind to its followers. Amongst the long line of mishaps, including Joy Ali’s much talked about no-show, Saturday night’s all out brawl between Joe Naleca and Tevita Vakalalabure can now be added to the dismayal list of unprofessionalism in the ring.
Who am I kidding. The best part about boxing is when the boxers disregard said professionalism and go all out against each other, trainers and fans in tow :P
According to reports, Vakalalabure seemed to be the bad boy of the fight, insisting on adding a few knocks on Naleca after the referee stops the fight 3 times. In the first round he landed a couple of jabs on Naleca after the referee had called for a break. The second round had the same thing going twice, and was appropriately penalised…by having a point deducted. Yay. By the third round, Naleca was beginning to warm up to the idea of taking the fight to Vakalalabure, referee or no referee.
And that’s when the real fun starts, with the respective trainers leaping into the ring to stop the punchout. Soon fans of both sides join in the fray, with the police not far behind. The video ends with some goliath guy dragged out to the left of the screen, probably screaming “LAI VI AU! LAI VI AU!” (LEAVE ME! LEAVE ME!)
I almost wish I was there.

Life in Fiji is Sweet

So says Garageland, a New Zealand indie rock band with a penence for little toy monkeys (Mr Splinky!), influencial bands such as the Pixes, The Clean and The Velvet Underground, and happy, bright tunes that make you want to snap your fingers and go out and smile the world up.

And who would say otherwise? In their music video Life is So Sweet, our protagonist, Mr Jean Paul Paul Jean Jean Paul (yes, this isn’t a typo/tired fingers post at 3am in the morning mistake) dons the spy shades and shadows a mysterious man around the main section of Sigatoka Town (correct me if I’m wrong, could be Nadi…any help from the West? Just where is he shadowing?), and the Outrigger Reef Fiji Hotel. In fact, half of the music video seems like a giant ad promoting Outrigger Reef Fiji, showing off its swimming pool, lovely yard and even the awesome dance club complete with rotating lights and black walls.
Inbetween his ‘Chuck’ tailing moments, Mr Jean Paul happily skips on a sunny beach with histrusty radio on his shoulder, admires the local women (see 1:52) and even manages to do a ninja flip/tumble in the greenery.
I have to admit, he did have a lot of fun. Almost makes me want to join a indie band so that I could make crazy ninja flips and do bad 80s dance styles in a music video.
Almost.

Filler Post till I get my Net Connection Back

Shifted recently but still haven’t set up my net, so I’m posting this as filler, or to let you know that no, I haven’t yet abandoned this blog. Not until I get my net up and start raiding seriously in them 25 man dungeons before WOTLK – .

Ahem.

If you are a fan of Heroes, and you find the japanese mainboy Masi Oka quite the funny guy, then you’ll be pleasantly surprised that he is kinda funny in real life as well.

Here’s a clip from teh internet teeveez that has Stop Time Boy fishing out from the crystal blue waters of Fiji something that doesn’t quite seem at home in the sea…
