Envy The Making Of: The Directors Cut
Posted by Wilson in Envy Movie, movies, production diary on November 7, 2011

Writing a screenplay is no easy task. Trying to shuffle your ideas into one cohesive linear story that would hopefully make the audiences feel the way you feel about your writing can be somewhat daunting. Add to that directing the whole affair, then editing later as well as engineering sound effects to go along with the film and you’ve got yourself the perfect mix for madness.
Luckily, Clarence Dass was already crazy enough to go through the motions of getting a short made, and thus, Envy was born.
To have a chance to see what creative albit crazy process goes on in that zombie delight of a brain of his, check out his thoughts, musings and trails and tribulations on his blog:
“I get ideas in a number of different ways. That’s one reason I like to read a lot and watch as many movies as I can get my hands on. These things seep ideas and concepts into my work in many interesting little ways, and when I got the idea for the script that would be “Envy”, it came to me in a dream. When I a woke from this dream, there I was at five in the morning, quickly turning on my pc to jot out what would become the first draft of Envy…”
Envy: The Making of Episode 2

Like all great trilogies, the most fun happens in part 2. Granted there’s no cliffhanger, or Han Solo frozen in carbonite, but we’ve got blood, green goo and an aspiring policeman complete with handy (and heavy) torch.
Here is Episode 2 of the Behind the Scenes of Envy. As always, the smooth rolling Albert Rolls is the interviewer, and damnit I forgot to add Gabe Gravell as the lounging lizard in the middle of the video.
The youtube version is also embedded for your convenience. Dead tauntaun entrails not included.

Why bother with a behind the scenes, making of nOOb Productions short “Envy”?
Because we can. And because we shot a lot of behind the scenes footage during our shoot, we couldn’t just let it go to waste like that
Mind you, during the interviews, you can disregard the messy bookshelf on the right side of the screen. Or the shoddy lighting. Small indie budgets tend to have an effect like that. But it’s all in the spirit of film-making.

Horror Movie Production Diary 1: Envy – The Trailer
Posted by Wilson in Envy Movie, movies, production diary, video on July 19, 2011
Well, here it is folks.
My friends and I have once again cobbled together another local short film for this year’s Kula Film Awards Open Category. Titled “Envy”, it is our pride and joy that we present to the internet at large the trailer, and in the following weeks, production diaries of…well…the production.
The film has already been handed in for judging, with the results and ceremony at the end of July.
Edit: Sorry here’s the link to the proper trailer /failblogger
Kania Na Yalo Bula: The Movie
Posted by Wilson in production diary, video, zombie movie on July 13, 2010
We came. We saw. We conquered. We also got wasted at the clubs, but that bit’s irrelevant (or the details too hazy to recall).
Yes indeed Ladies and Gentlemen. As a group of friends, we originally came out of the woodwork to try our hand at making an amateur short 5 minute film to enter in the FAVC Kula Film Awards 2010. No expectations were held, no previous film making experiences were brought to the bench, and a meager $80FJ (roughly $40USD) of a budget was scrapped together to facilitate the vision of one group of slightly aimless guys (and 1 girl
).
Now a month later, the Kula Film Awards over, we have managed to win the first prize of the Open Category Film Awards section. A fancy cheque, an A4 certificate, and history was made. While we never got to make a thank you speech of any sort, the open bar at the end of the show more then made up for the organisation’s shortcoming. Which, by any standard, was pretty short.
But that is a QQ post for another day. For now, we look to the future to creating another whip-cracking, back-breaking, tear-inducing, blood gorging, but all round worthwhile film project to slave over.
