Slang of the Week – Leva

Image source: movies.about.com

Leva: To feel ill will or to hold a grudge against someone, specifically after an arguement; refusal to meet later and clear up disagreement;

Mark: Listen, I’m sorry I screwed your sister ok? I didn’t know!
Ben:
Mark: Hey come on boy, I said I’m sorry. Don’t leva aye?

Note: Ironically, Leva is used by Latino Gang Members throughout the US to describe gang members who turn their backs on their original group and join another group/gang. Plenty opportunity there to play out the fijian version of ‘Leva’…

    hehe…my customised version is to quietly sing “leveration…” to the tune of Sesame Street’s “Cooperation, makes it happen” song.
