A Happy Diwali Folks!

Its that time of the year folks, where firecrackers are fired with reckless abandon, sweets are received from of your indian friends/neighbours/workmates, and houses are lit up with bright twinkly lights that run the risk of burning the house down.

Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is upon us once again, so if you’re staying here in Fiji, take a moment to enjoy the moment, the festivity, and of course, the lights.

I just woke up from a grog/alcohol session last night, and will be off soon to see how much indian sweets I can gorge myself on before I go into shock due to sugar overdose.

Oh, that and try and come up with new creative ways of shooting myself/friends/strangers with our sadly limited stock of fireworks.

Which reminds me, this year, as with last year (and the year before?), fireworks have been repeatedly watered down (read – banned), till we’re stuck with nothing but shitty sparklers and fountains. You know you can’t do squat with those things except make small kids squeal with delight and dogs run with fear.

Was up in Savusavu on Diwali night…the news of banned firecrackers has not reached the north yet by the sounds of it!

Absolutely loved the sound of strikers, woodpeckers and the lot…sigh! just like the old times!
