Dou Vei Cai…you And your Blog!
Afraid of nothing and no one, she can bring the smackdown on you if she thinks you’re full of empty air and self flattering pics.
Now this lady has balls, I’ll admit it. Though it does to have good ol’ anonymity by your side. Point is, if she thinks you’re a fuck, she pretty much says so. Its a very bold fuck you to your face thing she’s got going on.
Blogging is a relatively new phenomenon here in Fiji, though ‘relative’ is a…relative term. And with all things being new, there are phases which all local bloggers will go through that everyone else overseas has experienced, which today, we’ll examine one of those phases.
Blog wars.
Now. Picture this. Two local blogs. Fairly popular in their own right. Each blog goes about its daily routine, blogging about the usual things that happen in their lives.
We’re going with the assumption that because these two blogs are personal, they have posted either their real name, photo, or real name and photo online.
Then, either by accident, or boredom, or a bit of both…one blog calls the other – ‘boci levu’. (Which for you non-fijian speakers, is simply a bad bad bad bad word…)
Now if this were an overseas blog bitchfest, then a war of words will ensure. Reputations are put on the line, inventive and cruel catch phrases are coined, and supporters are drawn from the crowd to stand on either side of the line.
However, if this is a local affair, there is only so much slag heaping and crap talking before both of the bloggers will realize that:
(a) This isn’t going to end unless one of them goes to the other person’s house and beats the crap out of them.
(b) Option (a) may be an actual realization because “…I think my neighbour knows that falla!”
Yep. Fiji is too small to have a situation like this carry on without someone ending up with a nose bleed.
Either you’ll meet up at the local supermarket, the movies, or the best place for settling disputes.
The nightclub
Has this happened yet?
Not really. Fiji’s blog circle at the moment is generally full of one timers, company progress reports, boring NGO meetings, and a really small club of dedicated personal bloggers who are, for most of the part, really nice people.
But, give it time and give it space I always say…
And you can bet your dollar coin when it does happen, and the smackdown eventuates, I’ll be there to cheer them on
