Major Pote of the Month

I have worked in the print industry before, and oh how I know the pain of making a mistake in print. Because that one mistake becomes several thousand mistakes, and that, my friend, is something to behold.

When it comes to the news print media, errors are pointed out not by single clients, but by anyone and everyone who buys the paper in question, which, in this case study, just happened to be everyone in Fiji.

Our Major Pote of the Month goes to a local newspaper that has yet to learn the importance of “It ain’t over till it’s over.”

Thats right people. According to The Daily Post, we “won” the 2007 IRB Sevens World Cup. Which we so did not :(

I’m not sure when the paper WENT to print, (thank you Allen for the grammatical correction ;) ) but this was most probably when Fiji was leading briefly in the second half. I wonder if people at The Daily Post died after the game finished, with our team grabbing at thin air and them for excuses before head rolling time ^_^

Epic stuff really. One that must live on in local lore for eons to come.

PS: “Pote” is local slang for…involving yourself in a major mess up and coming out looking like a total fool. Word.

Haha, that’s why I never buy that paper. You might also want to define ‘pote’ for the rest of the internet :P

“I’m not sure when the paper when to print…”

Grammatical error. It should be written as, “I’m not sure when the paper went to print…”

    :P

When you mentioned that you once worked in the print media, was it “The Daily Post”?

    Bwaahahahahaha LOL :P

You may kill me softly now XD
